Marketplace & Library

Publish brains to colleagues, add them read-only to your Library, and how they count.

The Marketplace is an internal catalogue inside this Hive. A brain owner publishes a brain to it; any signed-in user can browse the catalogue, read a listing and click Add to my Library. The brain then appears in their brain list with a Library badge and is read-only for them, in the web UI and over MCP.

Publishing does not share the live brain. It creates a frozen, read-only copy. Republishing rewrites that copy in place, so the brain id and MCP URL stay the same and Library users pick up the new version without reconfiguring anything. Listings are internal to this Hive: there is no public or cross-Hive catalogue.

Publishing a brain

Open the brain's Settings and choose Publish to Marketplace (the button reads Manage Marketplace listing once the brain is published). Only owners and co-owners can publish. The form asks for:

  • Description — 20 to 4000 characters, shown as plain text.
  • Category — one of the categories an administrator defines. Pick General if nothing else fits.
  • Changelog (optional) — up to 1000 characters, recorded with the version history.
  • A confirmation that the brain's content will be visible to every user of this Hive.

Publishing is synchronous: for a large brain the form can take up to a minute.

A brain cannot be published when:

  • It has advanced (per-neuron-type) security turned on. Turn it off first, which exposes every neuron to everyone who can read the brain.
  • It is empty.
  • It has more than 20,000 neurons or 100,000 relationships.
  • You are not an owner, or the licence has expired.

Managing your listing

  • Edit listing — change the description or category. This does not create a new version.
  • Republish — publish a new version with the source brain's current content. Library users see it at once. Editing the source brain has no effect on the listing until you republish.
  • Unpublish — removes the listing. Every Library user loses access immediately and sees a notice that the publisher removed it. Publishing again reuses the listing, but people who had it must add it to their Library again.

If you delete the source brain, its listing is unpublished automatically. Administrators cannot take a listing down directly; deleting the source brain is the only route.

Browsing, rating and your Library

Open Marketplace in the navigation rail to search by title and description, filter by category and sort by rating, newest or name. Search does not cover brain content. Open a listing to see its description, version history, average rating and your own rating.

  • Add to my Library gives you read access. You cannot add your own brain. Remove from my Library takes it out again; your rating is kept.
  • Ratings are one to five stars. You must have the brain in your Library to rate it, and owners cannot rate their own listings. Individual raters are never shown, not even to the publisher, who sees only the number of active Library users.

Using a Library brain

In the web UI the brain page shows a Marketplace banner with the version and last update date. Settings, neuron editing, access grants, audit, export and deletion are unavailable. Library brains appear under Library on the brain list, not in Shared with me.

Over MCP the brain has its own endpoint, /brain/{brain_id}/mcp, like any brain you can read (see Connecting via MCP). Read tools work as on any read-only brain, and aiqbee_get_brain_info reports readOnly: true plus a marketplace block. Write, owner and access tools return an explicit error saying the brain is a read-only Marketplace brain.

The endpoint stays the same across versions, so a client configured against a Library brain keeps working after a republish. Access is checked on every call and ends as soon as the listing is unpublished or you remove the entry. Service accounts cannot use Marketplace brains.

Licence counting

Each active Library entry counts against the Hive's licence the way a copy of the brain would:

  • It counts as 1 brain.
  • It adds the listing's current neuron count to the pooled neuron total.
  • The published clone itself is not counted, and publishing costs nothing by itself.

Removing an entry or unpublishing a listing frees the capacity immediately. A Library add that would exceed the pooled cap is refused with a message naming the limit, and a republish that grows the brain is refused if the growth across all Library users would exceed the neuron cap. See Licensing & tiers.

For administrators

Manage categories at Admin → Marketplace → Categories. General is built in and cannot be renamed or deleted; deleting any other category moves its listings to General. The listings page is read-only and shows each listing's status, publisher and number of consumers.

Brain owners can export their own brains and any user can import an OKF bundle — see OKF export & import. Library brains cannot be exported by anyone; export the source brain instead.
